ALEX HALES smashed an unbeaten 71 to send defending T20 Blast champions Notts into the quarter-finals at the expense of Yorkshire. The White Rose county posted 163 for six after electing to bat in a winner-takes-all clash at a two-paced Headingley, with captain David Willey top-scoring with 51 off 40 balls. But England white-ball opener Hales hit five fours and a six in his 56-ball knock to secure a tie against Somerset next week. In the other quarter-finals, Worcestershire will face Gloucestershire, Durham play Sussex and Lancashire will take on Kent. DURHAM have signed shamed Australia batsman Cameron Bancroft, 25, as their overseas player for 2019. Bancroft received a nine-month ban from Cricket Australia for his role in the ball-tampering scandal in South Africa five months ago.
