3 in 4 of us get nuisance calls

THREE in four of us have had a nuisance call in the last month, according to a poll – with almost half feeling intimdated by them.

Consumer watchdog Which? wants ministers to ensure bosses of the firms behind such unsolicite­d marketing are held accountabl­e.

Under plans, the Informatio­n Commission­er’s Office would get stronger powers to hold managers directly responsibl­e for breaking the law with further fines of up to £500,000. Currently only businesses are liable for fines. A consultati­on on the issue ends today.
