Jagger’s 60s muse Marianne: I live with terrible pain

-

AS the glamorous girlfriend and muse of a youthful Mick Jagger, Marianne Faithfull represented the cream of Swinging Sixties society, flitting from party to party and scandal to scandal.

But now, in news that is guaranteed to make us all feel old, the former wild child reveals she suffers with chronic joint problems.

‘ I’ve got this terrible arthritis,’ the 71-yearold singer (pictured, right, in her heyday) discloses. ‘It’s in my left shoulder, arm and hand.’ her latest ailment comes after a string of health difficulties and struggles with drink and drugs. ‘I recovered from all those awful things, like the broken back and the hip and bone infection,’ she says. ‘that was bad enough — then I got this arthritis. My mother had it too, so it’s genetic, I think.’ Marianne adds: ‘ I’m left- handed. that makes it hard for me to write or type. It’s awful, man — but I get through.’ Army officer’s daughter Marianne was the long-term girlfriend of Rolling Stones frontman Jagger when she was seduced by guitarist Keith Richards in 1969. Richards, now 74, later admitted he had seduced Marianne to get revenge on Jagger, 75, who had enjoyed a fling with Anita Pallenberg, Richards’s girlfriend at the time.

It was ‘not the first time that we’d been in competition for a bird’, Richards wrote in his 2010 autobiography Life, adding: ‘It was like two alphas fighting. Still is.’

his revenge in bedding Marianne — which he says happened only once — was interrupted when Jagger returned home early.

their ‘hot and sweaty’ episode was cut short as Richards ‘did one out the window’, clutching his clothes, although he left his socks behind.

In his memoir, Richards mocked Jagger’s sexual prowess, saying that Pallenberg found him somewhat underendowed.

Presumably she couldn’t get no satisfaction . . .
