FIVE WAYS TO PREPARE YOGHURT

-

1. SWAP 1 tbsp mayonnaise in a sandwich for 1 tbsp 0 per cent Greek yoghurt to save 100 calories.

2. TOP grilled asparagus with a yoghurt sauce (blend 125g natural yoghurt, 1 tbsp lemon juice, 1 tsp smoked paprika and a crushed garlic clove). The yoghurt has ‘good’ bacteria to boost immunity, while the asparagus supplies inulin, a fibre that feeds gut bacteria.

3. WHIZZ 125g natural yoghurt with 100g mackerel, 1 tbsp horseradish sauce, a squeeze of lime juice and black pepper to make a pâté that supplies almost a fifth of your daily calcium and a hit of vitamin D for strong bones.

4. COMBINE natural yoghurt, chopped banana and a grating of dark chocolate for a pudding. Yoghurt, potassium-rich bananas and flavanol-rich dark chocolate can all help to stabilise blood pressure.

5. SNACK on natural yoghurt topped with flaked almonds — both these foods provide calcium, magnesium and vitamin B6.
