Today’s poem

AN IMPOSSIBLE DREAM

-

This year, that’s quickly passing, I chalked up eighty-eight. If I want to do a few more things I really shouldn’t wait. I know there are the oldies who Go in for life with hype, But even in my younger days I never was the type. To abseil down a building Or to skydive, wild and free, Were not the kind of pastimes That held a kick for me. Still, if it’s been decided I’ve got more years ahead I’d better find a reason To prove that I’m not dead. I’ll try to face the future With just one lone delusion; I’m still alive and kicking When Brexit comes to a conclusion. Ruth Spencer, Maidstone, Kent.
