North Sea gas field boost

-

PREMIER Oil has announced plans to press ahead with developing its Tolmount gas field – in a major boost for the North Sea.

The field in the southern North Sea is thought to contain around 500bn cubic feet of gas and will produce around 58,000 barrels per day at its peak, enough to supply around 2.5m homes. The field is expected to produce gas for ten to 20 years starting in winter 2020, with gas processed at Centrica’s Easington gas terminal in Yorkshire.

The explorer’s boss Tony Durrant said: ‘Tolmount is one of the largest undeveloped gas discoveries in the southern North Sea.’
