Parking rip-off
SEFTON Council is threatening residents with a big bill if they park on their own drives despite not having a dropped kerb (Mail).
Most will be less well- off residents using what used to be a small front garden to get their cars off the road.
When I wanted to widen my dropped kerb, the application required a payment to Hampshire Council of £75.
The contractor doing the work was charged an approval fee of £275.
Could fees of £350 be the real motive for the council threats? JAMES ANDERSON,
Winchester, Hants. THE council fining you for parking a car on your own drive? They will be charging you for growing grass next. JIM TRICKETT, Pontefract, W. Yorks.
