Sweets deal probe
THE competition watchdog is mulling an investigation into the takeover of the sweets manufacturer behind brands such as Barratt and Fruit Salad.
Valeo Foods Group agreed to buy Tangerine Confectionery, which also makes sherbert fountains, this year for an undisclosed sum. Valeo Foods Group houses brands such as Fox’s glacier mints and Rowse Honey.
The Competition and Markets Authority is considering a probe if it deems a deal threatens competition in the sector. The CMA cleared Ion Investment Group’s £1.5bn takeover of software firm Fidessa.
