The mum-to-be who went into McDonald’s and came out with a seven-pounder!

- Daily Mail Reporter

It’s not usual for hungry diners at McDonald’s to be asked whether they want to upsize.

But mother-to-be sarah Meek found she had little choice in the matter.

she left the fast-food outlet with a whopping seven-pounder – a baby boy that she gave birth to in the toilets. Incredibly, a midwife she’d seen earlier that day was also at the drive-through... and stepped in to help.

Miss Meek, 21, was on her way to hospital in scunthorpe, Lincolnshire, because she had started her contractions.

But on the way she felt peckish and asked her partner Josh Hall and his mother if they could make a quick stop at the burger joint.

she had earlier been seen by a midwife at a district hospital, who gave the couple her number in case they should need help. By coincidence, the midwife was in front of them in the queue at the drive-through. she collected her food and drove off.

But suddenly Miss Meek felt a sudden urge to use the loo – and then her waters broke. Mr Hall, 21, said: ‘ We’d stopped because sarah was starving, but then she said she needed to go to the loo. We went to the toilet and then I panicked because she suddenly stared right into my eyes and said, “Oh I need to push”.

Mr Hall called the midwife, who told him she was coming back to help. He said ‘sarah’s waters broke and the midwife and my mum both came into the toilet.

‘they got sarah laid down on the floor, and I couldn’t see it from where I was, but they said you could see the baby’s head. the midwife, Jo, and my mum helped deliver the baby,’ he added.

Baby Alfie arrived weighing 7lb 8oz. the couple, from Howden, near Hull, are now looking forward to getting their new arrival home to meet his sister Kacey-Leigh, three. A spokesman for Yorkshire Ambulance said it had received a call but that the midwife delivered the baby before crews arrived.
