Sway to the rhythm of holiday paradise

-

Swaying softly in the breeze My eyes glance up towards the trees Supporting me, the hammock creaks, Can life be more than this? Palm fronds dance in pure delight Their shadowed fingers caused by light Caress the sand with gentle moves, A graceful silhouette. As worried thoughts, they dissipate No more discussions, no debate, And peace, it settles on my mind, I feel so full of life. A sail ship glides without a sound With billowed sails, horizon bound And dolphins flying in its wake, They play with wild abandon. A sea bird swoops across my sight Wings clip the sea, yet still in flight And feathered waves shift restlessly, No rush to reach the shore. The woman I now call my wife Shares my desires, she shares my life, Walks ankle deep through waters blue, Of this we’ll dream together. Our temporary brief intrusion, Our quiet stay here in such seclusion, I know will end too swiftly now, Departure looms so cruelly. And so the hammock gently sways And whilst I’ll leave, my spirit stays And memories I will keep with me Of paradise, of sanctuary. Neil Phypers, Welwyn, Herts.
