Should mums breastfeed in a swimming pool?

-

I AGREE with the staff who asked a mother to stop breastfeeding her toddler in a swimming pool (Mail). What about the hygiene issues? Why can’t mothers use discretion and modesty when feeding their babies in public places instead of pushing the boundaries and complaining about their rights? JULIE PERKIN, Bristol. WHEN I breastfed my three children, I treated it as special, oneto-one time. How can breastfeeding in a swimming pool be appropriate? ROSEMARIE PARKER, Southampton. NO ONE I know would bat an eye when mothers breastfeed in public. Why are some people so prissy about a natural activity? JIM PEARMAN, Kidderminster, Worcs. WHAT unplanned, chaotic lives these young mothers who breastfeed in public must lead. Young babies are fed every four hours, so this can be done at home before the mother arranges to meet friends. It is almost as if it is done defiantly to bring about a reaction. Name supplied, Crowborough, E. Sussex. MY FRIEND discreetly breastfed her infant son in a cafe with a shawl placed over both of them, but one older gent told her she was ‘disgusting’. What a miserable man for berating a natural act. Name supplied, Ferndown, Dorset. THIS is what to say to anyone against breastfeeding in a cafe: ‘If you eat your meal in the toilet, then I will feed my baby in the toilet.’ DOREEN CURRAN, Benfleet, Essex. WHY did the woman offended by a mother breastfeeding not take her teacake to the loo if she thought it an appropriate place in which to partake of nourishment? COLIN MacDONALD, Nottingham.
