AARON RAMSEY has been stalling on his contract negotiations at Arsenal with his present deal in its final year. Why? Where is he going to go? Ramsey is a good player and was very unlucky to suffer a thigh strain that kept him out for three months, having been in the form of his life in 2013 — but he has struggled to recapture that performance level since. He wouldn’t be a guaranteed first-team player at any of the other five elite clubs, and talk of a £250,000 a week deal as a free agent is fanciful. As mesut ozil discovered, there is no better game in town than playing for Arsenal, and Ramsey would be well advised to knuckle down and start trying to impress new manager Unai emery. His numbers in a 54-minute appearance against manchester City on the opening day of the season were pitiful: 11 passes and only seven accurate.
