Resort’s 20 food poisoning lawsuits
TWENTY food poisoning legal claims have been lodged with Thomas Cook from former holidaymakers at the hotel.
The law firm representing the guests slammed the resort as a ‘repeat offender’, saying some tourists had tested positive for salmonella on their return to the UK.
Other holidaymakers yesterday claimed complaints of severe sickness at the hotel had been ignored for months.
Businesswoman Andrea Gomm, 44, of Malton, North Yorkshire, said she, her husband Matthew, 45, and sons Elias, three, and Harry, five, pictured left, were among ‘at least 50 people’ suffering from illness during their 11night £3,000 stay in April. Mrs Gomm said Thomas Cook ‘weren’t interested’ in the bug, adding: ‘They brushed it under the carpet.’
Nick Harris, of law firm Simpson Millar, is representing 20 former guests in claims being contested by Thomas Cook.
He told the Daily Telegraph: ‘Thomas Cook is consistently trying to shift the blame onto my clients. They are using every excuse under the sun. It’s disgraceful.’
A spokesman for Thomas Cook said: ‘We take all illness very seriously and we will continue to investigate outstanding cases.’
