IF YOU’RE paying a fortune to educate your child privately, the least you could expect is that they leave the school speaking ‘proper’.

That’s the feeling of The Police drummer Stewart Copeland, who sent his son to £35,760-per-year Rugby in Warwickshi­re. ‘I expected that he would develop a very proper English speaking voice, but he didn’t,’ says the American, 66, whose father was CIA officer Miles Copeland, Jr. ‘I was told that speaking “posh” was not actually encouraged these days. Shame.’

Stewart knows how things have changed — he attended Somerset boarding school Millfield as a teenager.
