Minister’s ‘concern’ at trans pupils
THE women’s minister last night expressed concern about the number of teenagers undergoing gender reassignment surgery.
Victoria Atkins said the country needed to remain ‘particularly alert’ about young people seeking ‘life-changing’ medical interventions, the Daily Telegraph reported. Mrs Atkins said she was ‘cautious’ about the large increase in teens opting for surgeries and treatments, adding: ‘We need to get down to the reasons why this is happening.
‘The treatments are so serious and life-changing. Lots of questions are rightly being asked about how we treat young people. People whose bodies perhaps haven’t developed yet.’
