‘I DOUBT anyone who knows me thinks I’m a problem drinker,’ says the genial presenter Adrian Chiles. ‘I don’t fall over, fight, or find myself too hungover to function.’ He is, however, more and more curious about why he drinks far more than the recommended level of alcohol and whether it’s damaging his health, and this endearingly candid film follows his quest to find out. Adrian’s focus is not on obvious alcoholism, but on ‘nice, regular drinking’ and the ‘damage quietly being done to ourselves and society by drinkers like me’. He begins by facing facts and totting up his weekly intake — needless to say, it really comes as quite a shock.
