I DON’T agree with the criticism of the chairman of the Magistrates Association, who called for more people with criminal records to be made JPs (Mail).
Encouraging former offenders to take on public offices not only enhances diversity, but also reflects an understanding of the Christian principles of repentance and forgiveness.
Offenders have paid the price for their actions.
They have learned a better way to behave and are in a much better position to help others. It’s time that society recognised this and welcomed them. J. LONGSTAFF, Buxted, E. Sussex.
