PICK OF THE DAY

AS THE new series begins, 12 amateur bakers enter the famous tent to begin their quest for culinary greatness, under the watchful eye of presenters Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig. This year, judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith (pictured) have chosen to break with tradition and begin with Biscuit Week (it’s usually week two, following cakes). The dozen bakers’ signature challenge is quite a task — to make biscuits that say something about not just themselves, but also a place in the t British Isles. Can a biscuit r really do all that?
