Lose EU shackles
THOSE who enjoy the trappings of power, such as privileged employment, high wages and gold-plated pensions, without the responsibility of governance — it’s the EU, not us! — are ramping up the fear factor over a supposed no deal with the EU.
These people want us shackled to the EU for their own benefit and will stop at nothing to maintain the status quo.
Some large businesses, mostly EU based, have threatened us with dire consequences. WTO rules will put the tax burden on these businesses rather than UK taxpayers, who pay billions into the EU single market for ‘free’ trade.
The taxpayer gets some of this back, but that can only be spent on what the EU allows. WTO rules will allow the UK to trade with its other members, of which there are nearly 170, under common rules and without EU interference.
Paradoxically, if there is a no deal, it will be because of the intransigence of the undemocratic EU treating the UK like an errant child rather than an independent nation.
