KAMARA DOUBLE SINKS EXETER

-

ABOUBAKAR KAMARA was given his first start of the season and scored twice to send Fulham into the third round of the Carabao Cup for the first time in three years. It also gave Slavisa Jokanovic plenty to think about ahead of the trip to Brighton in the Premier League on Saturday. The Fulham boss made 11 changes to the side who pummelled Burnley 4-2 on Sunday and it was a job well done against League Two Exeter. ‘We must be satisfied to win the game,’ said

Jokanovic. ‘We are in a process where we could still do a better job, playing faster with less touches, and we can show more quality. ‘I was really happy with the ambition of the team I played. Some players could find themselves participating against Brighton.’

Kamara struck in the fourth minute, sending a rebound past Exeter’s Christy Pym before adding a second early in the second half when he finished off Stefan Johansen’s through ball. Exeter boss Matt Taylor wasn’t too upset with the result after making eight changes himself, including putting top scorer Jayden Stockley on the bench. Taylor said: ‘It was a tough game, a tough night, but I learned a lot in terms of our squad. The first 15-20 minutes I felt we gave them too much respect.’
