ZOUMA: I’LL WIN PLACE AT CHELSEA

- By DOMINIC KING

KURT ZOUMA will not give up on his Chelsea dream and believes a successful year with Everton will boost his chances of thriving at Stamford Bridge. The France defender moved to Goodison Park on deadline day on a season-long loan after discussions with Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri. Zouma — who spent last year on loan at Stoke and has not played for Chelsea since May last year — is determined to show he can return to London in the future and thrive. ‘The manager (Sarri) arrived late, we didn’t know what was the plan of the club,’ said Zouma. ‘At Chelsea there were a lot of defenders. I needed to play regularly so I didn’t want to stay on the bench.’ Asked whether he felt there will be a time when he has to leave Chelsea for good, Zouma said: ‘No. Not at the moment. I have always believed in myself since I started playing professionally at 16. I have always wanted to show myself at Chelsea.’ Everton centre backs Michael Keane, who will be out for a month after suffering a hairline fracture of his skull, Yerry Mina and Phil Jagielka are unavailable so Zouma will make his debut in tonight’s Carabao Cup tie against Rotherham.
