Tell us a bit about the Flight Centre Concierge
team. As a pure concierge team, we ensure that every customer gets as much as they can from their trip. In order to do this we offer advice on everything they could ask for – from restaurant recommendations to top things to do and see, or insider tips. We also love helping with planning proposals or special occasion celebrations. Finally, if disaster strikes on holiday, we’re on hand to help. What are your specialities within the
team? Together we have travelled all over the globe. I love India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia and California, in particular; Jessica is our Canadian specialist and is great with sporting events; Vicky is passionate about NYC, Florida and Australia; Monica knows her stuff when it comes to Japan, Australia and New Zealand; and Jaz loves Vegas and Bali. And that’s just the start! We all work as a team and share our knowledge with each other as much as possible. How have you helped your customers? We help our customers with any requests in-destination, whether that’s assisting them during natural disasters, such as the recent Lombok earthquake or Hawaii volcano eruption, or ensuring they have the holiday of a lifetime. In fact, we just had three brothers return from a USA trip, singing our praises. I had booked for them to see a baseball game and arranged pool-party tickets, for a quintessential experience Stateside. And that’s just one example. Between us we have organised a birthday cake for a customer trekking the Inca Trail, a horseback riding tour in Yosemite, and a beachfront cinema experience in the Maldives. What/who inspires your travel ideas? As a team we have a subscription to Condé Nast Traveller, National Geographic Traveller and we utilise Instagram a lot – after all, travel imagery is a huge source of inspiration. We also lean heavily on the Flight Centre UK blog, as well as seeking out other reputable travel blogs for local tips and advice.
