It’s 77F again as summer makes a brief comeback

- By Richard Marsden

IF you thought summer had fizzled out, there’s some sunny news. Warm weather is poised to return this weekend, sending temperatures soaring.

On Sunday, a high of 25C (77F) is possible in London and the South East. Temperatures could reach 23C (73F) as far north as York, the Met Office predicts.

Today is due to be settled with sun for many and temperatures of 22C (72F) in London, 21C (70F) in Bristol and 20C (68F) in Birmingham. Cloud is due to build further west, with patchy rain possible in Wales and Cornwall, and temperatures of 17C (63F).

Tomorrow, cloud and light rain is due to linger in the West. However, Met Office forecaster Sarah Kent said: ‘Further east, Saturday is due to be a dry day with bright or sunny spells.’

Sunday will be similar but even warmer but next week it will turn cooler as a weather front moves across the UK.

However the Met Office predicts that until mid-September ‘there are likely to be some chilly nights, bringing an increasing risk of early morning fog’.
