Missing airman didn’t climb into a bin, says mum
THE mother of missing RAF serviceman Corrie McKeague claims he did not climb into a bin and end up at a landfill site, as police believe.
Nicola Urquhart, 49, said CCTV was only collected up until midday in the area where the gunner, pictured, disappeared in 2016.
On the Find Corrie Facebook page, she said: ‘Corrie could have left in a vehicle after 7am and could have walked out in any direction after midday.’
A search was carried out from Bury St Edmunds to RAF Honington, where Corrie was based, but Mrs Urquhart believes other areas need to be examined.
The 23-year-old was last seen on a night out in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk.
Search teams spent 27 weeks scouring the waste tip near Cambridge last year but found no trace of Corrie’s remains.
The £2million hunt was shelved earlier this year after Suffolk Police admitted having ‘no realistic lines of inquiry left to pursue’. The case has been passed to a cold case team.
