Me and my shadow get along just fine!

-

The shadow on my bedroom wall Is just like me but much more tall. She copies everything I do. Tell me — have you got one, too? I brush my hair; she’ll brush hers, too, She’ll read a book the way I do. When I dance I always find She’s dancing on the wall behind. I found it really irritating, All this silly imitating, So one day I just had to say: ‘If you can’t stop it — go away.’ Then she looked me up and down; She turned around and walked away. However, as the time went on I felt quite sad that she was gone. My bedroom wall looked rather bare Without the shadow being there. I didn’t see her for a while, But when I did, I had to smile, And I was really glad to see When I waved, she waved back at me. So now we live quite happily; My shadow on the wall and me. Her imitation, I can see, Is just a form of flattery.
