MARCUS RASHFORD was sent off for retaliating after a challenge from Burnley defender Phil Bardsley. Having already won the ball, Bardsley tried to trip Rashford off the pitch and Bardsley deserved his yellow card. But the Manchester United striker responded by throwing his head into Bardsley. We saw a similar incident last week when Everton forward Richarlison was sent off for clashing heads with Bournemouth’s Adam Smith. It does not matter how soft the contact is. Any headbutt — or attempt to butt — is a red-card offence, so it was the correct call by Jon Moss.
