Sophie’s electronic tag for her Houdini tortoise
DISMAYED when her tortoise went AWOL earlier this spring, Roald Dahl’s granddaughter, Sophie, was relieved when they were reunited by a Good Samaritan via social media.
Now the former model reveals she has attached a tracking device to his shell to ensure ‘Torty’ doesn’t go missing again. Sophie, 40, who has two young children with her jazz musician husband, Jamie Cullum, posted a picture online of the device as she detailed his latest escapade.
‘He climbed two separate flights of stairs, wriggled through some fencing, until he reached the liberation of a meadow: filled with
some deliciously tall and camouflaging grass,’ she explains. ‘Armed with my tracking app, I found him in said meadow, fast asleep, nestled in a comfortable hole, with half a slug hanging from his toothless mouth.’
