KATIE wRIGHT is having an unforgettable summer and will be chasing more success after reaching the grand finals of the Daily Mail Foursomes with her Stranraer team-mate Jackie Hart. The Scottish duo beat Fiona McMillan and Birgit Clark 3&2 at old Course Ranfurly to claim their place in next month’s showpiece, which will be held at Marriott St Pierre. few weeks for the 22-year-old from Dumfries and Galloway, as in August she broke the women’s amateur course record at Stranraer, which has stood since 1997, with a 67 and was also crowned club champion for the sixth time. ‘It’s just clicked this year,’ said the plus one golfer, who has been playing at the club since she was five. ‘I’m looking forward to the finals. I like challenges and playing different
courses. This competition means a lot to us.’ wright works full-time as a life guard and is also a talented curler, a pursuit that has had to take a back seat while she concentrates on her dream of becoming a professional golfer. ‘I love golf. I would love to give it a go. I felt the course record was coming. It is a big achievement,’ she said.
