Studs hired by bond firm Pimco

FORMER high flying banker John Studzinski is joining bond specialist Pimco as an adviser to top clients.

The 62-year-old will take the role of vice chairman and will be based in New York, advising government­s and some of the world’s biggest pension funds and corporatio­ns.

Known in the City as Studs, he was a key player in the 1980s ‘Big Bang’ when deregulati­on saw US banks swoop into London.

He set up Morgan Stanley’s European deal-making arm in the Square Mile, then moved to HSBC in 2003 to build up its investment banking arm. The philanthro­pist and fine art collector later became a vice chairman at private equity firm Blackstone.
