Take heart over tests

-

I HAVE concerns about the test used by Public Health England that suggests four in five people have hearts older than their age (Mail).

I took the NHS online test without including my blood pressure or cholesterol readings as it stated national averages would be used. My heart age came out as ten years older than I am.

When I re- did the test with my correct blood pressure and cholesterol readings, my heart age was spot on. Is this test just scaremongering?

PAT POWELL, Cardiff. THE heart age test is flawed because there isn’t a question about how much exercise you take. You are also marked down if, like me, you are on blood pressure pills or statins.

However, people on medication are probably in better health than the millions with these conditions who are undiagnosed.

I did the test and though I am 73, my heart age came out at 88, despite the fact I walk miles every week with my dog and don’t smoke.
