American hero
AFTER my service in the U.S. Navy and two tours of duty to Vietnam in 1966 and 1968, I pledged to wear a bracelet inscribed with a PoW’s name until he was released or his remains were returned.
The bracelet I received had the name John McCain. I faithfully wore it until he was released in 1973 and always felt connected to him. Never did I realise he would become a great American hero and a benchmark for integrity. Dr J. ROBERT DIFULGO,
