INVESTORS in animal genetics company Genus turned bearish yesterday, as it warned trade disputes and African swine fever could cause problems.

Genus analyses farm animals’ DNA, looking for desirable traits like disease resistance and protein make-up.

Though it released full-year results in line with expectations, shares slipped 6.6pc, or £1.80, to £25.42. It warned that ‘growing barriers to international trade and the spread of African swine fever to China’ may pose challenges.
