NEW ASHTON BLOW AS BAN IS EXTENDED

CHRIS ASHTON’S England hopes have suffered another blow after the Sale wing’s suspension was extended until October 15. Ashton was handed a seven-week ban for a tip-tackle on Castres scrum half Rory Kockett. His return date has now been moved because his club included a friendly against Sale FC, which was subsequently cancelled, in the seven games he was to miss.
