She’s Strictly slinky! Shirley pushes boat out as she turns 58

AS she celebrated turning 58, Shirley Ballas showed no signs of slowing down when she took to Windermere for a champagne boat trip.

The Strictly Come Dancing head judge showed off her welltoned physique in a series of Instagram posts in which she wore a red bikini and sipped bubbly.

She told her 55,000 followers in a video: ‘We’re going out on the boat – we’ve got some Moet.’ Showing her daring side, the Queen of Latin also tried her hand at wakeboarding, an action sport where participants are towed by a boat on a surfstyle board, riding its wake.

‘I’ve never done anything like this but I’ve always been told that I must try and be more adventurous,’ she said in her video.

Later, after coming out of the water, she added: ‘All the Strictly contestants, what I can say to you is try and try and try again darlings, because I was pretty naff on this wakeboard but I did try.’

The dance star revealed last month that she goes to extreme lengths to ensure she keeps her slender frame, fasting for 16 hours a day and eating a lowcarbohyrdrate diet.

She said she managed to lose 10lb in fiveandahalf weeks by sticking to the strict regime that leaves an ‘eating window’ of eight hours a day.

Miss Ballas is not the only star who favours ‘intermittent fasting’. Poldark actor Aidan Turner, 35, recently said his sixpack was not just down to hours in the gym, but also thanks to starving himself all day.

He revealed he fasts until 7pm when filming and exercises on an empty stomach to achieve the body that has made his fortune.

Meanwhile, former chancellor George Osborne, pop star Beyonce and model Miranda Kerr are all fans of the 5:2 or ‘fast diet’.
