CONSIDERING the erratic behaviour Elon Musk has displayed in recent weeks, some might have wondered: What on earth has he been smoking?
Now we know – these pictures show the billionaire Tesla boss drawing deeply on a cannabis joint.
While Mr Musk stressed that he doesn’t use the drug regularly, he was happy to indulge during a live recording of a popular podcast. His serene mood probably didn’t last long. Hours after the podcast went out, shares in his firm crashed by almost 10 per cent as two executives, Dave Morton and Gaby Toledano, quit. Tesla’s value has fallen by almost £9billion in the past month.
It comes after Mr Musk provoked widespread anger when he called a heroic British diver ‘pedo guy’, then apologised but continued his baseless attacks this week by describing him as a ‘child rapist’. Vernon Unsworth, who helped rescue a Thai football team trapped in an underwater cave earlier this summer, is planning to sue Mr Musk for libel. The tycoon also caused market turmoil for his electric car company when he suggested he was planning to take it private. He has since backtracked on his plans for Tesla. But if the controversies are troubling him, he wasn’t letting on when he appeared on the Joe Rogan Experience, broadcast on YouTube in the early hours yesterday. He was seen puffing a joint offered by host Joe Rogan. Cannabis is legal in California, where the podcast is recorded.
