Ex-BBC presenter Rosie Millard’s brain tumour op

-

FORMER BBC arts correspondent Rosie Millard has spoken of her relief after a successful six-hour operation to remove a ‘huge’ brain tumour.

The mother of four posted a picture of herself on Twitter, with a swollen eye and her head still wrapped in a bandage following surgery to remove the lump.

‘Gone! Big but benign brain tumour removed in a six-hour op...what a relief,’ she wrote.

Miss Millard, 53, said that the tumour may have been growing for years but she only realised something was wrong after she By Katherine Rushton Media and Technology Editor developed tinnitus – an unexplained ringing sound – in one of her ears.

When doctors could not find a cause Miss Millard said she ‘insisted’ on a brain scan. That test revealed a huge lump growing behind her right eye.

Miss Millard said she decided to keep quiet about the ‘grim’ discovery until it was removed, and paid tribute to the ‘magnificent’ staff at The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery.
