Back to the 80s! Kylie and Jason reunited
IT was a moment to make her fans glad they should be so lucky.
For Kylie Minogue sprang a surprise as she invited her old Neighbours co-star Jason Donovan on stage for a duet.
Their reunion, at the Radio 2 Live in Hyde Park festival on Sunday night, was only the second time the former soap stars have sung together in three decades.
They performed their 1988 chart-topper Especially For You, with Donovan wrapping his arms around Miss Minogue – as he had done on Top Of The Pops 30 years ago.
Miss Minogue, 50, had teased the 70,000 fans by singing the first few bars of the song alone. She then said ‘I need a dance partner’ – at which point fellow Australian Donovan appeared from the wings.
He swept Miss Minogue off her feet and span her around the stage as they sang. Donovan, also 50, later told fans on Twitter that he had cycled to the event to watch his friend, only to be asked to join her on stage. Miss Minogue laughed as the song ended, joking: ‘He didn’t know that was going to happen.’
It was not the only surprise the singer had in store for her fans at the show. She later invited Rick Astley on to the stage for a duet of his 1987 chart-topping hit Never Gonna Give You Up.
