- ETHANOL: CETALKONIUM CHLORIDE:

THIS week: Bonjela CHOLINE SALICYLATE: One of the two main active ingredients in Bonjela, it is a pain reliever similar to aspirin with anti-inflammatory properties. It blocks an enzyme in the body which usually makes prostaglandins, chemicals which cause painful swelling and inflammation. By blocking this enzyme, these unpleasant symptoms can be reduced. This substance is widely used for mild to moderate pain relief. The second active ingredient, this is a form of ammonium that works as an antiseptic to protect broken skin or gums from bacteria and fungi, thus preventing infection. A type of alcohol added for its disinfectant action, to kill bacteria in the mouth.
