ICTURE your ideal holiday: an escape brimming with new experiences as you’re immersed in local culture in your chosen destination. Perhaps you love the idea of exploring a range of new places, rather than spending your break in one location?

You want to feel special and looked after, of course, but with the freedom to set your own agenda. You may wish to plan a few excursions and activities to indulge your interests, while retaining the flexibility to be spontaneous as you discover your surroundings.

If all that sounds appealing, there is no better way to make that vision a reality than with a P&O Cruises holiday. A long, illustrious heritage has earned P&O Cruises its status as Britain’s favourite cruise line, with two thirds of guests returning to enjoy the experience again. Whether you prefer to take it easy or enjoy adrenaline-fuelled adventure, P&O Cruises helps you create the perfect holiday.

For decades, P&O Cruises has listened to the ever-evolving wish list of holidaymakers, and now offers something for everyone – from short breaks and fly-cruises to world cruises and the largest range of ex-UK itineraries.

With an array of destinations to discover and cultural experiences on offer in every port of call, there’s always a warm welcome and a proper cup of tea (or perfect G&T) waiting back on board. You’ll be amazed how much is included: great accommodation, top-notch meals, entertainment and children’s clubs, too, so you can relax and enjoy your break.

What’s more, for holidays departing from May 2019, the discretionary Service Charge on board will be removed, meaning that’s one more thing that’s taken care of.

PIONA: NOW ON SALE

THE summer 2020 collection is on sale now, offering an awe-inspiring collection of 160 cruises on seven different ships, including Iona, the beautiful new flagship of the fleet.

Named after the tranquil island in the Inner Hebrides, known for its dramatic landscape and legendary views across the ocean, Iona has been created with the vision of making the sea the star, as guests enjoy ever-changing panoramas from all over the ship. In summer 2020, she will debut amid the breathtaking Norwegian fjords, a World Heritage Site, sailing exclusively from Southampton to this spectacular coastline on seven-day holidays throughout her inaugural season.

Watch the world go by through the triple-storey glass walls of the magnificent Grand Atrium, or in privacy, as you relax in one of the new Conservatory Mini-suites. A major new entertainment hub, SkyDome, features a glass roof and a pool with a retractable stage, offering magical views of the Norwegian coast and informal dining by day, and a dazzling view of starry skies as you enjoy aerial performances, DJs and immersive shows by night.

In fact, there are more than ten places on board to enjoy a drink while taking in the sea views, and over 17 places to eat, with eight speciality restaurants. Plus there’s a wealth of ways to spend your time afloat, from four swimming pools – including an infinity and an indoor pool – and 18 whirlpools to a variety of entertainment options, from Headliners Theatre and Ocean Studios four-screen cinema to nights out exclusively for adults at The 710 Club, with live music acts.

You’ll have the thrilling prospect of new destinations to explore, too, and the chance to enjoy authentic Scandinavian experiences, either under your own steam or on a thoughtfully crafted excursion, tailored to a variety of interests.

And, come evening, return to Iona and enjoy a sundowner with a toast that says, ‘This is the life!’
