CHECK FOR DATA LEAKS

-

MILLIONS of internet users have had their email addresses, personal information and passwords leaked when websites they use have been hacked.

British Airways, Debenhams Flowers and credit ratings agency Equifax have all suffered data breaches in the past 18 months.

Firms are required to write to you if your details have been put at risk by security failings or a cyber attack.

You can also check using an online tool at HaveIBeenPwned.com. It allows you to type in your email address and find out if your details have appeared on the ‘dark web’, a hidden part of the internet used by criminals.

The tool tells you which websites allowed your details to be leaked.
