HOW YOUR SECRETS SELL FOR £800 ON DARK WEB

-

CROOKS could buy everything they need to steal your online identity for little more than £800, research has found.

The Dark Web Market Price Index, compiled by Top10vpn. com, found log in details for taxi app Uber, accommodation site Airbnb, music streaming service Spotify and TV website Netflix selling for as little as £5 each.

Paypal account details attracted the highest prices at an average of £280 because criminals buying these log in details could steal money straight away rather than having to piece together several pieces of information. Online banking passwords sell for £168 on average and passport details for just £40.

And the researchers said cybercriminals ‘can easily spend more on their lunchtime sandwich than buying up stolen credentials for online shopping accounts like Argos for £3 and ASOS for £1.50’. Crooks can put the data together to take out loans in your name.
