Boozing isn’t cool say students

-

YOUNG people believe their parents drink too much and are embarrassed by their drunken antics, according to a poll.

Today’s students believe their parents’ generation were wilder, it found.

A total of 59 per cent claimed they drank less than their parents and 44 per cent said their parents were less health conscious. For 42 per cent, their studies came first, saying they took their course work seriously. A similar proportion (41 per cent) said they felt obliged to work hard because of the high cost of tuition, while 22 per cent said drinking to excess was no longer ‘cool’.

Julia Alpan of Endsleigh Insurance Services, which carried out the poll, said: ‘We were surprised to see how different the lifestyles of today’s students are compared with those of their parents.’
