BRADLEY COOPER — hot on the heels of the spectacula­r success in Toronto of his A Star Is Born, starring a luminous Lady Gaga — will portray legendary Leonard Bernstein (who wrote the scores for West Side Story, On The Town and Wonderful Town) in a film of the composer’s life. Cooper will also direct the picture, which is due to start shooting next year.

ROSAMUND PIKE, who gives a spellbindi­ng portrayal of war correspond­ent Marie Colvin in director Matthew Heineman’s gripping A Private War, which had its world premiere in Toronto last night. Pike (above) is without fear as an actress, and she’s at her best in this film, which explores the cost involved in going to the darkest places on earth. The movie will be shown at the BFI London Film Festival on October 20. CYNTHIA ERIVO, who stars with Viola Davis, Elizabeth Debicki and Michelle Rodriguez in Steve McQueen’s thriller, Widows. It’s based on the Eighties TV series by Lynda La Plante and marks Erivo’s film debut. South London-born Ms Erivo (right) won a Tony for her lead role in the Broadway musical The Color Purple. She has completed three further movies and is to portray Harriet Tubman, who helped to liberate slaves in the Deep South, in a television film.
