Zero hours woe

-

LEO McKinSTrY is correct that the flexibility of the gig economy suits companies (Mail), but it certainly doesn’t suit workers.

Would he care to spend a week or two working for a courier firm where he would be expected to be available six days a week, have no entitlement to t holiday or sick pay and be paid below b the national minimum wage?

The vaunted flexibility is nonexistent: e couriers collect parcels at a given g time and must deliver them within w specific hours.

Work can be withdrawn on the whim of a manager, and woe betide any courier who has the audacity to be ill, suffer a vehicle breakdown or have a family crisis, because this will almost certainly result in their immediate loss of livelihood.

The gig economy is the unacceptable a face of capitalism.
