Mince pies pack Christmas punch

MORRISONS will sell mince pies filled with five times more alcohol than last year as part of its Christmas range.

The all-butter pasty treat, part of its upmarket ‘The Best’ range, is filled with spiced mincemeat made from sultanas, brandy, cider and orange oil. Sold in a box of six and suitable for vegetarians, the mince pies will be sold for £2 in stores later this month.

The grocer is also launching a vegan food line, to include chilli con carne alternative ‘non carne’, and a dairy-free Red Leicester cheese.
