Staley sounds warning

-

THE world could fall into a new financial crisis and banks must be braced for turmoil, the boss of Barclays has warned.

Jes Staley, 61, likened the current era of rising markets, record job growth and confidence to 2006, two years before disaster struck, and said the eurozone is a risk to global prosperity. He said: ‘Everything seems to be going so well. The economies are growing, unemployment is at close to record lows – I do think you need to be concerned. There are risks out there and how we try to anticipate those risks and respond is a big deal.’
