Grantchester’s dishy new Rev
The smart set’s talking about...
McMAFIA actor James Norton shot to stardom when he stripped down to a tiny pair of shorts and dived into a pond in Fifties drama Grantchester. Now that Norton has confirmed he’s hanging up his clerical clobber next year as crime-fighting vicar Sidney Chambers, all eyes are on his successor Tom Brittney, 27, right.
Brittney has set pulses racing while filming the new series in Cambridge after donning the dog collar of Rev Will Davenport.
Born in Kent to author Lynn Brittney and her husband Brian, Tom honed his craft at Central School of Speech and Drama before landing a role in the BBC’s Call The Midwife.
London-based Tom enjoys a passionate love life off screen.
He is courting illustrator Katie Tweddle, 26, (inset) from North Yorkshire, whom he met after breaking up with his American girlfriend in 2014.
Rev Davenport is described as ‘a man of God, but with the devil inside of him’ — something that Tom can relate to. He admits: ‘I am a nice funny guy who can be dark and bad sometimes.’
