What a heel! Jimmy Choo guru’s fiance won’t divorce wife

-

JIMMY CHOO cofounder Tamara Mellon announced with great fanfare in Hello! magazine that she was engaged to Hollywood talent agent Michael Ovitz.

But almost four years later, there is still no sound of any wedding bells.

‘There is never going to be a wedding,’ one of Tamara’s friends claims. ‘It’s all rather awkward. Michael is still married to his wife, Judy, and they do not want a divorce.’

Tamara, 51, told Hello! in March 2015 that Ovitz, who is 20 years her senior and founded the Hollywood talent agency CAA, had ‘ surprised me with a beautiful ring’ the previous December.

Ovitz has been described as the most powerful man in Hollywood.

She said of their engagement: ‘It wasn’t entirely out of the blue because he kept saying, “I’ve got something really important for you.”

‘He first asked me to move in with him over a year ago, then I suppose he wanted to show his commitment.’

The couple, pictured, bought a home in New York which, Tamara said, was ‘a long-term project’.

The news tops off a grim year for Tamara. In April, her ex-husband, the banking heir Matthew Mellon, died at the age of 54 while attending a drugs rehabilitation centre in Mexico.

They met at Alcoholics Anonymous and were married for five tempestuous years until 2005. She called him a ‘child in need of a nanny’ and later admitted to having snorted her way through ‘alpine ranges of cocaine’.

Tamara, who is the daughter of Tom Yeardye, a stunt double for Rock Hudson, and former Chanel model Ann Davis, went on to enjoy romances with Hollywood’s Christian Slater, 49, and rapper Kid Rock, 47.

She made £85 million in 2011 when she sold the Jimmy Choo brand after it became an international phenomenon by featuring in TV’s Sex And The City.

She and Ovitz could not be reached for comment.
