Price of a pint ‘is going up’

WETHERSPOONS has warned that a pint is likely to become more expensive as higher taxes and wages take their toll.

Chairman Tim Martin, 63, said the price of food and drink ‘may have to go up a bit’. The news came as the pub chain reported a 4.3pc rise in profits to £107.2m for the year to the end of July – the biggest haul in its 39year history.
