MasterChef Australia, 7pm, W LAST week, we had Nigella. This week, expect the contenders to be even more awestruck as Gordon Ramsay swaggers in as a guest judge. The chef, who can just as easily intimidate as be the most supportive mentor, starts with a British-themed challenge.

NEW CAR SHOW

Modern Wheels Or Classic Steals, 8pm, Dave GENTLY competitiv­e new series with a simple premise. The buyer comes in with a budget and a desire (here, for a fun weekend car), and Rebecca Jackson and Elo (pictured) then try to persuade them to opt for either a modern motor (first, a Caterham 7) or a classic (a Mustang).

FILM THRILLER

The Post, Amazon Prime STEVEN SPIELBERG directs this rousing, All The President’s Menstyle thriller about the Press taking a stand against White House lies. Meryl Streep (the publisher) and Tom Hanks (the editor) are his blue-chip stars in a true story with present day relevance.

POLITICIAN PROFILE

Reflection­s, 9pm, BBC Parliament A NEW run of the simple, elegant and admirably unscripted profile series focuses on the nearly-Prime Ministers, starting with Michael Heseltine. Sadly, the BBC have announced this will be the last original series produced by BBC Parliament. (Freeview 232, Freesat 201, Sky 504, Virgin 605)

POLYNESIA

Oceans Apart: Art And The Pacific With James Fox, 9pm, BBC4 PART two of this exploratio­n of the good and bad consequenc­es of Captain Cook’s voyage focuses on the Polynesian islands. In one highlight, James Fox shows us an elegant artefact made of 28 sticks bound by string. It resembles an abstract sculpture, but it is in fact a map for navigating between the islands of the Pacific.

FREEVIEW MOVIE

We’re The Millers, 9pm, 5Star QUIRKY road-movie comedy starring Jason Sudeikis as a smalltime marijuana dealer forced into smuggling a large quantity of the stuff across the U.S.Mexico border. Jennifer Aniston n (pictured with Sudeikis and Will Poulter) plays a lap dancer roped into posing as hisis wholesome wife wife. Highly entertaini­ng silliness.

MAKING THE CUT

Super Salon, 10pm, E4 ‘IT’s not a comb I need, it’s a wand,’ remarks one of the stylists as he ponders what to do with a client who hasn’t had her hair cut in three years. This ‘real-life Rapunzel’ is the first to walk through the door in a new series about a Sheffield salon run by Cherise, who wants to offer the clients unlimited cocktails.

SCI-FI-HORROR

Devil’s Gate, 10pm, Sky Premiere ‘WEIRDNESS is starting to pile up round here,’ proclaims Shawn Ashmore’s cop as he and his FBI colleague investigat­e what a farmer is keeping locked in his basement. So-so sci-fi thrills.
